Tower of Hope
We have participated in various reconstruction projects for Tohoku region and developed many proposals in partnership with architects and companies. One of which is “The Heisei Five-Story Pagoda of Hope”, that serves as a shelter for those who are not able to move from their familiar places. Estimating 500 m as the average distance for a person to be able to evacuate in 15 minutes, we placed a spiral shaped tower every kilometer along the coastline. These towers also have low environmental impact and use wind and solar power. We created this symbolic design to give some hope and peace of mind to the people in the region in order to prepare for an act of God, that could happen once every 100 years.
